New tracker
Designed for bad days

Nothing here nags you. Nothing turns red. Nothing asks you to file things away.

Some days you organise everything. Some days you don't. You just need a place to put things that won't punish you later.

That's what this is for.

ADHD. Autism. Burnout. Brain fog. New baby. Hard weeks. And anyone working with less attention than usual.

jotsum also works when things are fine.

You don't need to keep up with jotsum.

Use it when you need it. Leave it when you don't.

What jotsum is

Timelines you can use for almost anything: quick notes, tasks, a reading list, moods and energy, observations you want to watch change over time.

You decide what each one is for. jotsum dates everything you add and keeps it findable.

We built this because some days don't look like others. jotsum still works when capacity runs low.

Get anything down. It sits on that day in your timeline.

We first built jotsum for ourselves, two people who spent decades not understanding why the usual tools often didn't work for us or the small teams we worked with. Our story is on the About page. It's free to try, free to leave, and your data is always yours to export.

The core idea

You might not open jotsum for a week. That's fine. Like a notebook on your desk, nothing changes while you're away. Nothing escalates. Everything is still where you left it when you come back.

Why it feels different

Three decisions. Everything else follows. One constraint: don't punish a bad day.

Capture first

You get it down. That's it.

No filing step before it exists. No sorting before it's real. No project to create first.

Sometimes deciding where something belongs is enough to lose the thought.

When you have capacity to add structure, you can. When you don't, the timeline still works.

More on this: dump first, organise later, what did I even do today?.

Time is the filing system

jotsum dates everything at the moment of capture.

The day you captured can be enough.

At retrieval you bring a keyword and a rough sense of when. Narrow the date range and search.

Past days remain. Nothing archives. Nothing needs carrying forward. Every day stays exactly where it happened.

More on this: you don't have to carry everything into today.

Nothing changes because time passed

The entry stays exactly as it was when you captured it.

If it still matters, move it to another day. If you haven't picked when it should happen yet, it stays on the day you captured it.

Time passes. The entry doesn't change.

We removed the usual ways apps pressure you

Nothing becomes due, turns red, or nags you. No overdue state, no notifications, no badges, no streaks. Nothing grows more demanding because you left it alone.

The checkbox is optional if completion helps you.

The Could Not Should template gives you a gentler way to begin the day. Instead of another list of things you should have done, it prompts you to start with where you are today and what feels possible.

More on this: time passing is not new information, a notification's only job is to interrupt you, the gap between knowing and starting.

You decide what matters

Not the system. Not urgency. Not defaults.

You.

AI does the carrying, not the thinking

jotsum includes some AI tools. Optional to use. Optional to share your data with.

It turns a voice note into text. Reads a photo of a handwritten page. Summarises your own timeline when you ask.

Every one of those takes a chore off you, or hands your own material back to you.

None of it writes, decides or thinks in your place. It carries the load, not the meaning.

From people who found their footing

SJ
"Before this I had endless bits of paper, calendar reminders, post-it notes, 100 website tabs open, and three different organisational platforms. This software has genuinely been life changing. It solves everything in one place and I've become much more productive."
